Edward Thawne was the corrupt CEO of Thawne Industries, where Barry Allen worked. When Barry Allen discovered he was using a special experimental chamber for evil purposes, Thawne locked Barry in the chamber. However, Barry returned with the abilities of super speed, and tried to stop Thawne from using the chamber on himself. Thawne's partner Leonard Snart froze Barry with a freeze gun and they kept him contained. Thawne proceeded to use the chamber on himself again but Barry broke out of containment and crashed a cart full of various chemicals into the chamber, causing a chain reaction that turned Thawne into a strange creature with red and black skin. He ran off, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
