Suicide Squad is a 2015 superhero film directed and co-written by Edgar Wright, co-written by Shane Black and produced by Matthew Vaughn, Black and Nira Park. Based on the comic by DC, it is the second film in the On Solid Ground DCEU. It is set for release in February 2015, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Development[]
The film was announced in June 2013 by Warner Bros. Pictures as part of their DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Almost immediately, Shane Black was hired to write the screenplay. Black was also hired to serve as co-producer with Matthew Vaughn.
On July 19, Edgar Wright announced that he had been hired to serve as director of Suicide Squad. This was confirmed by Warner Bros. a day later, along with the involvement of Wright's regular producer Nira Park.
On October 20, German cinematographer and regular Martin Scorsese collaborator Michael Ballhaus was hired. Wright's main editor Jonathan Amos is expected to take part as well.
Casting[]
Simon Pegg, a regular collaborator with Wright, was the first actor to be cast in the film, with his involvement revealed on July 19 at the San-Diego Comic Con by Wright. His role was later revealed to be that of the Riddler on August 5. He will serve as the main antagonist. The same day, it was announced that Luke Hemsworth and Viola Davis had been cast as Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller, respectively.
Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Tao Okamoto and Lance Reddick were all revealed to be part of the cast on August 16.

Principal photography commenced on January 25, 2014 and last for 80 days until April 9.
