William "Billy" Bastson, a.k.a. Shazam, was a normal kid until he came across a cave in the forest where the ancient Egyptian wizard, Shazam, was hiding. The wizard revealed he used to be a defender of Earth but is growing old, and so he gives Billy his powers, which Billy can activate by shouting "Shazam!". He is best friends with Freddy Freeman, his classmate at Fawcett City Elementary.
